Customization is one of the great advantages of using Android. You can change your Quick Settings toggles, change fonts – heck, you can even change your operating system with a custom ROM. But the one element that’s probably the most customized by users is the homescreen, with custom launchers, wallpapers, icon packs, and more being available to give your Android device the make and feel you want.
But sometimes, it can be hard to get the look you so desire. I, for one, can testify to this as I’ve spent many a day installing 5 to 6 different launchers, trying all the free icon packs, changing my wallpaper back and forth, and even deleting everything and starting all over again. For people like me, Google has created a tool to give you the Android homescreen you’ve always wanted. It’s called the My Android Taste Test, and you can take it here.
So how does this work? Google will ask your opinion on a number of questions, and after the survey, you’ll be greeted by a custom Android homescreen the company thinks you’ll like. They’ll also provide links to every element of the screen so you can get the look on your own device.
For me, I was recommended to use Evie Launcher, set a wallpaper from Zedge, use the Revolutionary Icon Pack, and check out Gboard. There were also two different homescreens which Google thought I’d also like, but this was the first one that popped up and is by far my favorite of the bunch.
All in all, this is a pretty spiffy tool if you’ve drawn a blank and want to try something new on your Android device. Every time you take the test, you’ll probably get different results, so be sure to bookmark the page.
