Yes, you read right. The Galaxy Tab S3 sports an all-glass design, much like Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones do. High-end specifications appropriate for 2017 come inside and include the following:
- 9.7-inch Super AMOLED 2048×1536 display
- Quad-core 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor
- 4GB RAM
- 32GB expandable store (microSD card support up to 256GB)
- 13MP autofocus-enabled camera w/ flash and 4K video capture, 5MP front camera
- USB-C connector
- 6,000mAh battery w/ fast charging
- Android 7.0 Nougat
With a combination like this, you’ve got yourself a pretty speedy device to work with. But of course, Samsung didn’t just build a tablet for watching movies with a Snapdragon 820 processor inside, no. The company actually includes the new S Pen inside the box which features 4096 points of pressure, a rubber 0.7mm tip, and a square-like body to avoid any table rolling. Unfortunately, there’s nowhere to store the pen while you don’t use it, so try not to misplace it in your carry-on.
An optional keyboard case for the Galaxy Tab S3 makes the tablet a bit like Apple’s 9.7-inch iPad Pro by offering similar specs and accessories. For whatever reason, however, there’s no backlight on said keyboard, but it likely resembles the keyboard that ships with the Galaxy Book at least to some extent.
Samsung has also included extended gaming support thanks to Android Nougat’s Vulkan API and Game Launcher “for an enhanced user interface and personalized gaming experience.” Oh, by the way, gaming and consuming media should be pretty enjoyable thanks to quad loud speakers tuned by the folks over at AKG.
It’s unclear when the Galaxy Tab S3 will be released or how much it’ll cost, but it nevertheless looks like Apple’s iPad Pro has a new sheriff in town, and we all know the saying: there’s ain’t enough room in this town for the two of them.
