Many of you may have not heard of Archos, but for good reason. They’re not exactly major players in the smartphone market. However, it looks like they hope to become leading competitors in the budget area as their newest handsets, dubbed the 50 Graphite and 55 Graphite respectively, offer low price tags and specifications you’d typically find on your $400+ smartphone.

Starting with the former, the 50 Graphite sports a 5-inch 720p HD display, a quad-core 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6737 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, dual rear cameras with the main sensor sporting 13MP and the secondary sporting 2MP, a 5MP front snapper, a 3000mAh battery, dual SIM slots, a USB-C port, Android Nougat, and even a fingerprint sensor on the back. Sure, in terms of speed, you really shouldn’t expect much, but at least you’re getting a pretty decent camera experience and security option.

Regarding the latter, the 55 Graphite steps things up with the same specs as the 50 but with a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display and 2GB of RAM. Personally, I’d opt for the 55 Graphite as while 2GB of RAM is still a bit low for 2017’s standards, its way better than 1GB.

It’s unclear how much the 55 Graphite will cost when it launches in June, but we do know the 50 Graphite will cost around $138, making it a competitive smartphone in its price category. We should hear more about these smartphones this year at MWC 2017, so stay tuned.
