We just received our first look at Apple’s upcoming spinoff series Carpool Karaoke: The Series yesterday, but last night during Recode‘s Code Media conference, the company’s Eddy Cue finally came out and said the show would premiere exclusively on Apple Music this April. In addition, a fresh trailer was also debuted which can be viewed above.
As an element worth noting, here’s Apple’s description of the show.
Based on the segment that has become a global, viral video sensation on The Late Late Show with James Corden, the new CARPOOL KARAOKE series features 16 celebrity pairings riding along in a car together as they sing tunes from their personal playlists and surprise fans who don’t expect to see big stars belting out tunes one lane over.
The company goes on to say who will appear in the series.
Featuring James Corden, Will Smith, Billy Eichner, Metallica, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Ariana Grande, Seth MacFarlane, Chelsea Handler, Blake Shelton, Michael Strahan, John Cena, Shaquille O’Neal, and many more.
Surely, since the Late Late Show‘s Carpool Karaoke segment has gone over so well with fans, Apple should have no problems getting viewers for their spinoff. With the company noting Apple Music has “well over 20 million subscribers,” I think this may be one of the more popular streaming-only series.
