Google today began rolling out the February security patch for 2017, and as has been the trend with the past few patches, there’s two available; one’s marked February 1st while the other’s marked February 5th. Respectively, Google has fixed 16 issues and 19 issues in each patch, while the most severe issues appear to be code execution vulnerabilities within Surfaceflinger and the Qualcomm crypto driver.
Devices getting the security patches first will be Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL, the Nexus 6P, 5X, 6, 9, and Pixel C. Factory images can be found here and OTA links are here. Do note that yes, the Nexus 6 and 9 are getting this month’s security patches as they’ve been promised further support in this department for around another year or so.
The February security patch will begin rolling out to all Android devices over the coming weeks.
