HTC Says They’re Not Making an Android Wear Watch

There’s no denying the fact that rumors have been swirling lately regarding an upcoming HTC smartwatch likely running Android Wear. We’ve seen leaked photos, various reports – but according to HTC, this all means nothing. In a new statement given to Android Police, the Taiwanese company confirmed that  “we’re not going to have an Android watch.” Take this as you will.

Of course, this doesn’t mean we’ll never see an Android Wear watch out of the company as an anonymous source to AP claims the device leaked in various photos (see images above) is codenamed ‘Halfbeak’ and has apparently been put on hold for some time now, so there’s always the possibility that the project could be picked back up. But in the mean time, don’t expect any HTC-branded smartwatches for at least a little while.
