Tidal Introduces ‘Track Edit’ for Chopping Up Songs

Tidal has introduced a new feature for mobile app users called Track Edit that’ll allow users to chop up any song they want, change the tempo, and allow them to fade in and out for the duration of their choosing. It’s unclear why the music streaming service launched this feature, but one such use case would be for DJs who need to be able to mix different tracks in with others. Of course, not many jockeys are gonna use a mobile device to do this, so our guess is the feature will roll out to desktop users as well at some point. We’ll let you know if we hear more.

Almost two weeks ago, the music streaming service owned by Jay Z also introduced Master tracks that stream in a CD-quality lossless format coming through at 44.1 kHz / 16 bit. Tidal already had offered users higher quality FLAC streams, but they don’t exactly stack up to true high-res audio.
