Popular analyst KGI has published a note obtained by MacRumors attempting to shed light on what Apple has planned in regards to the MacBook line in 2017. In the note, KGI claims Apple will refresh the 12-inch MacBook once again and include Intel Kaby Lake chipsets, a major step up from the current m3 processors found in the 2016 MacBook. This new laptop is said to begin production in Q2 of 2017 and will likely go on sale soon after.

Regarding the 13-inch MacBook Pro, Apple will also refresh this model with Kaby Lake processors and will begin production in Q3. The same goes for the current-generation 15-inch MacBook Pro. Interestingly, however, KGI claims Apple will also introduce another 15-inch MacBook Pro also with Kaby Lake chips, but will be available with 32GB of RAM. This model will be targeted towards heavy users and will enter production in Q4.

It’s worth noting the new 15-inch MBP may have “Pro” branding or just simply be called “MacBook.” For now, this information remains unclear, but we’ll update with any developments.

KGI also claims that Apple’s 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros have done well on the market thanks to high Touch Bar demand, leading the analyst to believing that a delay in production will occur eventually. However, the new 13-inch Pro without Touch Bar hasn’t done very fairly, suggesting Apple will lower its cost in order to move inventory.

As is the case with all of these rumors, we advise you to take the information shared here with a grain of salt. On the other hand, KGI is usually pretty accurate with their predictions so these leaks may result into being completely accurate. Nevertheless, rumors are never confirmed until the company behind them comes out and says whether they’re true.

Guess we’ll have to wait a little while.
