Asus Introduces ZenFone 3 Zoom with Dual Cameras, 5.5-inch Display, Snapdragon 625

Following the announcement of the ZenFone AR, Asus today at CES 2017 also introduced the ZenFone 3 Zoom, the successor to last year’s Zoom. This smartphone features mid-range specifications alongside a dual camera system usually only found on flagship smartphones.

Regarding the camera system, Asus built two sensors into the back of the ZenFone 3 Zoom. Each weighs in at 12MP, but one is a dedicated 56mm camera offering 2.3X optical zoom while the other has a 25mm wide-angle lens with an f/1.7 aperture primarily used to take user’s photos and videos. Hence the name, users will get a sharper image quality when they zoom into a photo or video, while bokeh effects will also be offered. It’ll be interesting to see how this generation Zoom will perform camera wise as last year’s model didn’t exactly go over well with reviewers.

Touching on the phone’s other specs, there’s a 5.5-inch 1080p display covered in Gorilla Glass 5 and a Snapdragon 625 powering everything. In addition, a massive 5000mAh battery comes loaded in which Asus says can last up to 6.4 hours of 4K video recording. Of course, this claim will be tested when the public gets their hands on the ZenFone 3 Zoom, so stay tuned.

It’s also worth noting that the phone is only 7.9mm thin, so it definitely packs plenty of heat into a relatively small body for a phone of its kind.

Pricing has yet to surface regarding the ZenFone 3 Zoom, however we do know it’ll be released next month. Stay tuned for more information.
