Last month, it was announced that unlocked variants of the HTC 10 would begin receiving an upgrade to Android Nougat, the first of HTC’s devices to receive the new software. Now, the company has begun rolling out the very same update to their 2015 flagship, the One M9, first in the US.

For those of you locked to a carrier with a One M9, you’ll have to wait until early 2017 to receive Nougat. However, if HTC’s recent update pattern is of any indication, you probably won’t have much time to wait in 2017 to get the new software.
Currently, there’s no word on what the exact size and/or build number of Android 7.0 for the One M9 is, but stay tuned. In the meantime, go to Settings > About > Software Updates on your device and see if you received the update. Be sure to place your phone on a Wi-Fi network and connected to a charger beforehand so no overcharges on your monthly cellular bill occur and your device doesn’t die before the download and installation is finished.
