Here’s Your First Look at the New MacBook Pros with OLED Touch Bar and Touch ID

We’re just two days away from Apple’s big Mac event, but that hasn’t resulted in the rumor and leak mills to come to a halt. Over on Mac Rumors, our very first look at what’s in store MacBook Pro wise has leaked early, and the images depict both the confirmation of an OLED touch bar and Touch ID sensor.

As you can see in the images above (which were discovered in Apple Pay code within macOS Sierra 10.12.1 by a tipster), the OLED touch bar replaces the Function keys previously found on older MacBooks. This is to allow more immersive operations with applications and services to take place. For instance, in the image on the right, you can see a prompt for Apple Pay authentication via your fingerprint (we’ll get to that in a second). It’s likely that third parties will be able to program actions for this bar and not just Apple, however when looking at the company’s history, there’s no promise in this department.

Regarding the Touch ID sensor, it looks like it’s directly integrated with the OLED touch bar on the new MacBook Pros. You really have to look close in order to notice it, but I don’t think this will be an issue once you get a feel for the laptop which, in theory, shouldn’t take very long.

Overall, this new function looks pretty sweet. Of course, we can’t see much more via these images, so we’ll have to wait until Thursday when Apple holds likely their last event of 2016. Follow MBEDDED on Twitter and Instagram for the latest from the event!
