As has been a hot topic in the technology world as of late, LG’s V20 is finally making its way to market. However, this doesn’t mean everyone will instantly fall in love with it. For some, the design may not be on point, while others may not like the secondary screen. But at least according to history, it’s likely that most just won’t go for the V20 because it has a 5.7-inch display. Clearly, that’s pretty big. And thankfully, it looks like LG has a fix for this…
Meet the LG V34. This handset is almost exactly identical to its big brother the V20 however features specifications that’ll seem more attractive to those with a fondness of smaller phones.
For starters, there’s a 5.2-inch display over the V20’s 5.7-inch display. Thankfully, the display remains the same resolution at QHD and, yes, that second screen at the top is here too. In addition, a smaller 3000mAh battery is present over the V20’s 3200mAh. This shouldn’t cause much of a difference in life span of the V34, so don’t be depressed.
On the inside, the same Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, dual-16MP camera setup, B&O custom 24-bit DAC, and Android 7.0 Nougat OS are all brought over from the V20, making the V34 essentially a smaller version of LG’s latest flagship. Something to note here is the fact that the V34 is actually IP certified water and dust resistant, with a rating of IP6X and IPX5 & IPX7 respectively. Obviously, you can’t dunk this phone in the pool or mud and expect it to be okay, but it’s nevertheless nice to have since the V20 doesn’t feature any waterproofing at all.
Unfortunately, opting for a smaller V20 means there’s some exclusivity involved. Right now, the V34’s only available in Japan and from one carrier: AU. We expect this handset to reach other territories in the future, but for now the smartphone will remain exclusive to this region. In addition, mid-November is the launch time, while exact pricing has yet to become known.
