Apple Suggests Putting a Case on Your New Jet Black iPhone 7

Today during their event, Apple finally took the wraps off their new 2016 handsets called the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. These smartphones include new cameras, better battery life, an all-new A10 Fusion processor, stereo speakers, and more. But probably the most talked about feature of these new phones is the new colors. Besides Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold, Apple’s launching the iPhone 7 duo in Black and Jet Black, possibly the most popular color choice. However, as Apple warns, this color scratches easy, even though it’s just as durable as the others color options.

The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use.

Essentially what Apple’s saying here is if you use your iPhone 7 naked for a little while, scratches and scuffs are bound to be picked up pretty easy. This is rather unfortunate since the color is such a nice one and will likely want to be shown off by anyone who picks it up. But probably the most interesting thing about this whole warning is the fact that Apple actually suggests you put a case on your new phone, therefore preventing any bodily scratches while also hiding the slick Jet Black design.

If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone.

Even though this may scare some of you, let’s think of this situation like this: If Apple weren’t to release this warning, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus would likely be subject to something called “Scratchgate” which would be caused by users reporting scratches, scuffs, and damage done to their new phones. This way, Apple’s just warning users beforehand which, in my sight, is a very smart move. I mean, if Apple warned everyone the iPhone 6 bent before it launched, do you think users would’ve caused the same scene they did back in 2014? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

Nevertheless, Apple pretty much wants you to buy the iPhone 7 in Jet Black with a case. Of course, this probably won’t be a major problem for most, however for some, it may be just the thing to convince them not to buy the newest iPhone.
