Following the announcement of the ZenWatch 3 today at IFA 2016, ASUS has unveiled a rather interesting piece of tech they call the ZenScreen. This gadget operates just like a monitor, however its ultra portable.
The ZenScreen features an edge-to-edge 15.6-inch display with a 1080p resolution. This screen is enclosed in an 8mm thin body that weighs less than two pounds. As a result, ASUS claims this is “world’s lightest and slimmest full HD portable monitor”. A USB-C is built into the monitor that allows you to connect the device to your laptop (for instance) and use it as a secondary monitor. This is something I’d absolutely love to have at my work station as I already work off a 15.6-inch MacBook Pro. Having that extra screen real-estate would provide me with plenty of room to do my thing, y’know? And the fact that it’s as portable as it is? Stellar!
A foldable case is included in the box of the ZenScreen that will allow you to prompt up the display horizontally or vertically. You can also pop a pen into the hole on the back of the device to stand it up whichever way you’d like. This isn’t ideal, so I recommend using the 1mm thin case included.
While we don’t know the release date of this monitor, we do know that it’ll cost around 269 Euro (about $300). That’s relatively inexpensive for something like this.
We’ll let you know when the ZenScreen becomes available for purchase!
