2016 HTC Nexus Devices Get FCC Approval

Ausdroid has released a report which gives us the link to the official FCC filing and approval for two HTC devices. And you’re not mistaken, these filings are pretty likely to be the ones for the upcoming 2016 HTC Nexus ‘Marlin’ and ‘Sailfish’.

One of the major giveaways from these filings that tells us they’re linked to the 2016 Nexus smartphones is HTC Corporation states that the user guide for the handsets can be found at support.google.com/nexus (see screenshot above). This is obviously the support website for Google’s Nexus devices and therefore is the reason why we believe these are the filing for the upcoming smartphones from the search giant and the Taiwanese company.

Features like 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, and NFC are also all confirmed through these FCC listings, however other than that there’s not much else to go by about the upcoming Nexuses. We were hoping to find some type of specification sheet with camera details or processor information, however an artifact of that type isn’t included in these filings.

You can view the official FCC label below.

Hardware wise, we’re expecting the new Nexus devices to look something or exactly like the photos leaked by Android Police with a mainly metal body and sections of glass seen on the front and back. Software wise, we know a bit more about what’s in store as we’re expecting a new Nexus Launcher, a new swiping gesture to access notificationstweaks made to the Settings app, features called ‘Night Light’ and ‘Quick Screen Check’, and these new wallpapers to be featured on the devices.
