Google’s very successful third-party keyboard Gboard for iOS has been updated to version 1.1.0. This update brings a number of changes lots of users will appreciate when they receive the new app.
For starters, you can now turn on a built-in dark mode on Gboard which I’m sure plenty of users will enjoy. This will shade the bright white and gray UI found as the default theme of the keyboard and allow easy viewing in darker environments and overall day to day use.
Secondly, Gboard now supports custom backgrounds from your own pictures as the image behind your keyboard. Much like the updated version of Google Keyboard for Android, users can now select whatever picture that’s on their phone as their wallpaper for their keyboard. This will add a level of personality and customization to each individual’s keyboard.
Thirdly, suggested GIFs can now be found within Gboard which will give you a GIF to use in a message where Google finds it appropriate. I’m not sure if people will actually benefit from this, but who knows?
And finally, more languages are supported in the Gboard app to allow more diverse tongues to use the keyboard. These languages include French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal) and Spanish (Spain). This comes in addition to the previous language offered which was English. Gboard will automatically detect which language your device is using and adjust accordingly.
All in all, this is a worthy update that will surely be beneficial for many users of Gboard. If you wanna update the app on your phone to version 1.1.0 (for free!), click here to visit the App Store.
