There’s been lots of speculation surrounding the naming scheme Samsung will give its next Galaxy Note smartphone. Of course, if you look at its history, the next Note should be the Note 6. However, reports have been released which claim that the Korean company will be jumping right from 6 to 7 to keep the Note series of handsets more in line with the standard Galaxy S lineup. This makes lots of sense, however it’s been a really “iffy” sorta rumor that could or couldn’t happen. However, in a tweet by world-renown tech leaker Evan Blass, it’s been “confirmed” that the upcoming Galaxy Note will be known as the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

In a reply to his tweet, Blass also seemed to confirm the rumored iris scanner as a part of the Note 7.

Considering his history, it might be safe to say that these two “confirmations” are actually legit. By now, I think everyone’s waiting for Samsung to announce the Galaxy Note 7 and not the Note 6. However, only time will tell if this rumored name and iris scanner will be a part of what Sammy has in store for the rest of 2016 smartphone wise.

Yesterday, Blass also decided to leak out the possibly upcoming Galaxy S7 Edge “Olympic Edition” via Twitter. This new smartphone wouldn’t feature any new additions or hardware improvements, but a new design to match the color scheme of the Rio 2016 Olympics.
