Evidence of a real Samsung Galaxy S7 Active variant has begun to grow a lot lately, and today, even more juicy information has made it’s way to the internet. In a report by Evan Blass over on VentureBeat, Samsung’s Android app “Level“, which is built for controlling some of the company’s Bluetooth accessories, has been updated with a claim that it supports the S7 Active. I’m not saying this is fresh news, okay? These reports came in a few hours ago, which doesn’t make much sense as Samsung hasn’t taken the reference down. This most likely indicates that the S7 Active is real and it’s coming our way soon. That would make the most sense, right?

But the evidence doesn’t stop there: bothSamMobile and Evan Blass have indicated that the S7 Active is being tested at AT&T under the serial number SM-G931A and has been given the codename “Poseidon”.

I don’t see why Samsung wouldn’t come out with an Active variant of the new Galaxy S7, as they’ve done this for the past three years with their flagships. Of course, I know the Galaxy S- Active lineup is a lot uglier than the recent glass-and-metal designs the Galaxy S6 and S7 sport, plus the new S7 already has pretty good water proofing, however I know quite a lot of people that want all the features of a premium smartphone but want it to be durable enough so they don’t need to spend another $100 on an ultra-protective case. And one day (quote me on this), somebody’s gonna come out with a premium handset with lots of protection and everyone’s gonna be like, “Oh. I didn’t know the market for this was so big.” It’ll be similar to the reaction people had when Apple announced the iPhone SE. People didn’t think there was a 4-inch phone market or at least a very small one, however there clearly is one since Apple made another phone in that size and form factor.

What are your thoughts on the rumored S7 Active? Could it be something you’d buy or simply skip on? Let us know in the comments!
